Starting September 1, 2024, Goodnotes can't be downloaded to devices running on iOS/iPadOS 15 or macOS 12.
Why we removed support for an old iPadOS / macOS version
Maintaining support for older iPadOS versions would limit our ability to ensure a reliable, high-performance experience for our users, as we wouldn't be able to fully utilize the latest technologies offered by the latest iPadOS / macOS versions.
How to update your system software
iPadOS: Open the Settings app, tap General > Software Update and see if you can bring your device software up to date to iPadOS 16.6 or later. macOS: Open System Settings > General > Software Update and see if you can bring your system up to macOS 13 or later.
If your system software can't be updated, we highly recommend upgrading your device to ensure you can get all future updates of the app.
If you choose to stay on an older iPadOS / macOS version
You'll still be able to use your existing Goodnotes installation as usual, but unfortunately will no longer receive future bug fixes and improvements to the app. For example, iCloud Sync and Auto Backup with third-party cloud services may be affected when we introduce new improvements/bug fixes for those features in the future.
Does this change affect GoodNotes 5 users?
- If you downloaded the last version of GoodNotes 5 (v5.9.127) and bought the GoodNotes 5 one-time purchase before the Goodnotes 6 launch (Aug 8, 2023), you can keep using that version as normal, but you will not receive future bug fixes and improvements to the app. For the best note-taking experience, we recommend installing the latest version of Goodnotes 6 on the App Store, and switch back to the GoodNotes 5 experience right within the app. See Downgrade from Goodnotes 6 to GoodNotes 5.
- If you've upgraded to Goodnotes 6 but have been using the GoodNotes 5 experience in the app, you'll still need to meet this new iOS/iPadOS/macOS requirement in order to update the app and get potential improvements to your GoodNotes 5 experience.
