I am a paid user of Goodnotes 6, why can’t I use audio transcription summary?
Audio Transcription Summary is currently available in the US and UK. We plan to expand this feature to more countries in the future.
Do I need to pay more to use audio transcription summary?
No, audio summary is available to all users who have upgraded to Goodnotes 6 via Subscription or One-Time Purchase. You don’t need to pay an additional fee.
What happens when I reach my credit limit?
Once you reach you credit limit, you can’t generate audio summaries until the credits reset in the next month. This monthly reset ensures fair usage and maintains the performance and availability of Ask Goodnotes and audio summary for all users. Once your credits reset, you'll be able to continue using the feature as usual.
Can I extend my credit limit?
Currently, extending the credit limit for the audio summary and Ask Goodnotes feature is not possible. Stay tuned for updates and enhancements to the summary feature as we strive to provide the best user experience possible.

Can I get a summary without a transcript?
No, we use different AI models for transcription and summary. The model for audio summary cannot recognize speech. If you want to create an audio summary, transcribe the audio recording first.
How can I give feedback on the summary?
When you generate summaries, you’ll be prompted to log your feedback on the quality of the response by selecting a thumbs up or thumbs down in the long-press menu. If you give feedback, your most recent interaction is logged.
Legal and Privacy
Is personal data (recordings, transcripts and summaries) used to train AI features?
Goodnotes does not access or collect data from your Notebooks to train its AI features. However, users of Goodnotes can voluntarily submit their data through ‘Feature Feedback’ under section 3.7.1. Goodnotes may use this information to improve its services, but only if it is submitted voluntarily.
The audio summary feature leverages an external large language model (LLM) that is securely stored and managed through Amazon Bedrock. This integration allows audio summary to effectively handle the question-and-answer functionalities that enhance user experience. Amazon Bedrock, being a product of Amazon Web Services (AWS), adheres to the stringent guidelines outlined in Amazon’s AWS Privacy Policy, which details how user data is collected, used, and protected. For additional insights into our specific data handling practices, you can refer to our own Goodnotes Privacy Policy, where we provide comprehensive information regarding your data privacy and security measures.
What happens to my outputs and data that is processed when I use audio summary?
Unless you opt in, we do not collect summaries.
Goodnotes will not have access to your data unless you voluntarily decide to share this feedback with us or if you make a customer support request which requires us to access the conversation logs for troubleshooting purposes. In case you decide to share your data, Goodnotes will retain your outputs and inputs for 30 days. This data is stored on AWS servers, you may request erasure of your inputs and outputs before the 30 day period is over.
All information which is voluntarily shared goes through an automatic Personally Identifiable Information redaction process. This process will remove any information which can be used to identify a user.
