How to Switch Between Dark Mode and Light Mode

We know that everyone has their own preference when it comes to how they view their notes, and switching between light and dark modes can make all the difference. Whether you prefer the calming tones of dark mode or the clarity of light mode, it’s easy to switch between them. Here's how you can control the theme across your devices!

For Windows Devices

On Windows, Goodnotes follows the default light or dark mode setting of your browser. To change the theme, follow these steps:

  1. Open Microsoft Edge 
  2. Click on the three dots in the top-right corner and go to Settings.
  3. Under Appearance, choose Light or Dark mode based on your preference.
  4. The next time you open Goodnotes, it will automatically reflect the new theme.

For Android Devices

If you installed Goodnotes from the Google Play Store, it's likely running on the Chrome browser. To change the light/dark mode in Chrome:

  1. Open the Chrome app.
  2. Tap the three vertical dots (menu) in the top-right corner.
  3. Go to Settings.
  4. Tap Theme.
  5. Select either Light or Dark mode based on your preference.
  6. Once selected, exit the settings. The change will take effect immediately, and Goodnotes will follow your chosen theme.

If you installed the app from the Samsung Galaxy Store, it’s likely running on the Samsung Internet browser. To change the light/dark mode in Samsung Internet:

  1. Open the Samsung Internet app.
  2. Tap the three horizontal lines (hamburger icon) in the upper-right corner.
  3. Go to Settings > Webpage View and Scrolling.
  4. Set Dark Mode to On.
  5. The changes will automatically reflect in Goodnotes when you launch the app.

For Chrome Devices

Goodnotes follows the default theme setting from your Chrome browser on Chrome OS. To adjust the theme:

  1. Open Chrome and click the three dots in the upper-right corner.
  2. Go to Settings > Appearance.
  3. Select your preferred theme: Light or Dark mode.
  4. Refresh the page, and the new theme will apply to Goodnotes.
