On Community, it's possible for you to download ANY of the study materials uploaded by others in-app. There are two types of notes - freebie notes, and non-freebie notes - and whilst the freebie notes can be downloaded by anyone with a profile on Community, the non-Freebie notes can only be downloaded in a certain way: using an Access Pass.
How do I download non-freebie notes?
To download non-freebie content, users will need to get an Access Pass, using in-app points that are earned through sharing and uploading content on Community.
The process for this is simple: simply go onto Community, then tap on either your "Use Points" button, or the "Points Balance". From there, simply select whether you wish to use your points on a 1 Week Pass, or a 1 Month Pass.
Once purchased, this will allow you to download all documents on Community. You can check how long is left on your pass in the main Community Homepage. In order to get one of these passes though, you will first need points.
How do I earn points?
Points can be earned in three ways: by uploading documents, by having your document downloaded, and by using Community on a daily basis (consecutively, in a daily streak). More information on this can be found below:
Action | Reward | Additional Information |
Upload 1 Document | 50 Points | - |
Accumulated 1000 downloads on an uploaded document | 10 Points | The downloads carry over day-to-day. For example, if you were to have 600 downloads on Monday, then another 400 on Tuesday, you'd receive the points on Tuesday. |
Daily Streak | 10 Points | A streak starts from the second consecutive day of opening the app whilst logged in, and will reset if you miss a day. |
You can earn up to 600 points per calendar month - which you can save and carry over into new months. After earning 600 points, you can keep uploading documents and continue your streak - however, you wouldn't receive additional points for these.
Frequently asked questions:
Q: As an uploader, am I able to make my notes non-downloadable?
Whilst you can't make your documents non-downloadable, we have some steps in place to ensure that your intellectual property is protected. For example, when your document is downloaded, we add a watermark to the bottom of every page with your Community details - that way, if the file is ever shared elsewhere, you will still get the credit you deserve.
Additionally, having users download your notes have some great benefits - such as free points that you can use within Community, and being able to share knowledge with others studying the same subjects as you!
Q: Do I get points for uploading non-academic notes or freebie notes? What about when users download my freebies and non-academic notes?
Yes! All notes uploaded to Community will receive points, regardless of if they're freebie, non-freebie, academic, or non-academic. This is also the case for the cumulative download points earning too.
Q: I don't want to upload notes, but still want access to the Weekly or Monthly Pass. Am I able to earn these points in any other way?
Unfortunately, at this time there are only three ways for you to earn points in Community, as outlined above. However, we are always exploring new ways to improve this - so if you have any ideas, feel free to share them with us!
