What happened to GoodNotes Community?

As of June 2023, the Community beta will be being permanently sunset from the GoodNotes 5 app. This means that the feature will no longer be available in-app for users, and that any existing documents on the platform will no longer be shared.

In 2023, our team is hyper-focussed on building and developing features that will provide the most value and enjoyment to our community of users. Features such as Audio Recording, GoodNotes for Windows & Android, and our new typing experience are just some of the amazing new things we have offered this year. As such, we made the tough decision to retire the Community beta, to be able to further focus on other areas of our app.

We would like to give an enormous thank you to all users who offered us feedback on the beta, and to the thousands of Community members who uploaded their notes to help inspire and educate others.

FAQ

Why did GoodNotes decide to end the Community beta?

As we want to focus on other areas of our app - such as bringing GoodNotes to Android and Windows (alongside a ton of other new unannounced new things) - we made the difficult choice to end the Community beta.

Can I still use the Community beta?

The Community beta will remain online and open until June 20th 2023. Until this date, you can continue to use Community as normal. After this date, the feature will be removed from GoodNotes 5, and you would no longer be able to use this feature.

What will happen to the files I’ve previously downloaded from Community?

As long as these files are saved locally on your GoodNotes 5 app, you will continue to have access to these after Community is removed from the app.

How do I make a backup of my Community documents?

Downloading a copy of your personal notes on Community can be done in the same way as downloading any other file on the platform. Simply go to the Community > Your Profile > Select the document you want to download. Once done, simply hit “Download”, and the file will be available locally in your Documents View.

What will happen to my data after the closure of Community?

For information on this, please refer to our Privacy Policy; which sets out how we will process and retain your data and rights.
