If your GoodNotes library is linked to an Apple ID account you no longer use or want, and now you want to change to a new Apple ID, you will not lose your current GoodNotes library.
Here's how you would transfer your GoodNotes content from one to another Apple ID.
If you've been using iCloud in GoodNotes:
- In GoodNotes, turn off "Use iCloud" in GoodNotes Settings > iCloud Settings. If there are any iCloud sync errors shown there, it's safer to take the steps in the next section.
- Open iPad Settings (not GoodNotes Settings) > Apple ID > Sign Out.
- Sign in to the new Apple ID.
- Turn on "Use iCloud" in GoodNotes iCloud Settings. Your notes will start uploading to your new iCloud account.
If you haven't been using iCloud in GoodNotes:
- Back up your GoodNotes library manually: Backing up and restoring data manually in GoodNotes 5
- Open iPad Settings (not GoodNotes Settings) > Apple ID > Sign Out.
- Sign in to the new Apple ID.
- Restore your data by importing the .zip backup created in step 1. Please refer to the same article in step 1.
Note: The steps above assume that you've also bought GoodNotes with the new Apple ID. Otherwise, while you can still use the app with that Apple ID, you won't be able to update the app in the future.
