Spellcheck your handwriting

Goodnotes uses AI to recognise your handwriting and let you know when you have misspelt something. You can then correct your spelling while still keeping your own handwriting.

Use Spellcheck

Spellcheck.jpegSpellcheck 2.jpeg

  1. Write down a word.

  2. If you have misspelt something, you will see a red line appear underneath the word.

  3. Tap on the underlined word to bring up suggestions.

  4. Choose the correct spelling.

  5. Your word will change to the correct spelling while maintaining your handwriting style.

Please note that Goodnotes will use AI to generate and match your handwriting style based on the handwriting on the page you are working on. Because of this, pages with more information will produce more accurate results and results may vary across different pages in a Notebook or in Notebooks shared with other users.

Add to dictionary

Has Spellcheck mistakenly labelled your word as incorrect? It may be because this word is not a standard word or is specialized terminology that doesn't exist in the dictionary! No problem, you can add this to the dictionary so this doesn't get flagged next time!

To do this:

  1. Tap on the underlined word.
  2. Select More.
  3. Choose Add to Dictionary.
  4. Type in your chosen custom word.
  5. Hit save.

You can also check your current custom words in your dictionary by going to the Goodnotes Menu > Settings > Writing Aids > Custom Words. Note that your custom words in Goodnotes for Spellcheck will not affect typed words or your custom dictionary on iOS.

Custom Words must not be separated by a space and currently will only support characters included in the Simple Latin Alphabet plus a few extras, please see the list below if you are having problems.
