For institutions who have environments that require app protection policies to prevent user access to certain app features, you can now add Goodnotes to your Intune deployment and ensure that it meets your requirements.
As a prerequisite, the target iOS device must be enrolled to Intune to begin with before completing the below steps.
Deploying Goodnotes to devices
- On the Intune admin center, go to Apps > All apps > Add
- On the side panel, choose App type > iOS store app, then Select
- On the new window, tap Search the App Store and then search for Goodnotes 6 and tap Select
- On the App Information panel, tap Next
- On the Assignments tab, choose either Add all devices or a group that contains the target iOS device, then tap Next
- Then, on the Review + create tab, tap Create
Adding the License Key and Intune Opt-In configuration keys
In order for the app to have a valid Goodnotes license, you must include the provided License Key in the Managed App Configuration. Similarly, in order to enable the supported Intune App Protection Policies, the Managed App Configuration must contain a key to opt-in into Intune.
- In the Intune admin center, go to Apps > App configuration policies and tap Add > Managed devices
- On the Create app configuration policy window, give the policy a name, and under Platform select iOS/iPadOS
- For the Targeted app field, tap Select app and search for Goodnotes 6 on the Associated app panel
- When selected, tap OK and then Next. On the Settings tab, choose Enter XML data
- Paste the XML configuration into the designated field. Make sure to include the isIntuneUser and LicenseKey fields. You don’t need to include the enclosing <xml> or <plist> tags. When finished, tap Next.
- On the Assignments tab, under Included groups, choose Add all devices or a group including the target iOS device, and then tap Next
- On the Review + create tab, choose Create
- On the enrolled device, the Goodnotes app should be automatically installed, showing an alert like the one below.
