What is Goodnotes Cloud?

Goodnotes Cloud is a cloud storage feature that allows you to back up and sync your notes, documents, and other content created in the Goodnotes app. By enabling Goodnotes Cloud, you can securely store your files online and access them across multiple devices. Goodnotes Cloud is being rolled out.

Is my personal data safe in Goodnotes Cloud?

Yes, your data is securely stored and encrypted. Goodnotes uses third-party cloud providers (such as Amazon Web Services) to power the infrastructure for Goodnotes Cloud. These providers are required to protect your data under strict data processing and confidentiality agreements.

Does Goodnotes access or collect data from my notes or documents?

No, Goodnotes does not access or collect any data from your notes or documents stored in Goodnotes Cloud unless you give explicit permission. We only store the files to provide backup and syncing services.

Who can access my notes and documents stored in Goodnotes Cloud?

Only you can access the notes and documents stored in your Goodnotes Cloud account, unless you choose to share them with others. You can share files with specific individuals through collaboration features in the Goodnotes app.

How long does Goodnotes keep my data in the cloud?

Your data is retained in Goodnotes Cloud for as long as you maintain your Goodnotes account and continue using the service. If you delete your account or delete specific documents, the data will be removed from Goodnotes Cloud.

What happens to my Goodnotes Cloud data if my account becomes inactive?

Your data in Goodnotes Cloud will remain available as long as your account is active and you continue using the service. However, as outlined in clause 12.2 of our Terms & Conditions, we may delete your account or any data stored in Goodnotes Cloud if your account remains inactive for 2 years without payment. Before any data is removed, we will send reminder emails, giving you the chance to either download your notes as PDFs or Goodnotes files, or renew your subscription to continue accessing them.
It’s important to note that this policy applies only to Goodnotes Cloud. Whether you're a subscription or one-time payment user, any notes stored locally or in iCloud are yours forever, and we will never alter or delete them. You will receive multiple warnings before any Cloud data is removed. For further details, please refer to Section 12.2 of our Terms.

Can I transfer my data out of Goodnotes Cloud?

Yes, simply access your notebooks within the Goodnotes app and choose the export option.

Where is my data stored?

Goodnotes Cloud uses third-party providers like Amazon Web Services to store your data. Your data may be transferred to servers located outside your country, including outside the UK or EEA. Goodnotes ensures that all data transfers comply with legal requirements to protect your personal data.

What happens if I disable Goodnotes Cloud?

If you disable Goodnotes Cloud, your notes and documents will no longer synced to Goodnotes Cloud. Files already sync in the Cloud will remain until you delete them manually, but new files will not be synced if Goodnotes Cloud is disabled.

What happens if there is a data breach?

Goodnotes takes data security seriously and has measures in place to protect your personal data. In the event of a data breach, Goodnotes will notify you and any applicable regulators if required by law. We also have procedures to respond quickly to such incidents.
