Accessibility in the Goodnotes Marketplace

At Goodnotes, we are committed to creating an inclusive and accessible digital environment for all our users, including those with disabilities. In alignment with the European Accessibility Act (EAA). The Marketplace section of the Goodnotes app falls under the scope of the European Accessibility Act. This legislation requires that all e-commerce services, including websites and mobile applications, be accessible in a consistent and adequate way, making them perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust. As part of our compliance efforts, we have introduced specific features to support users with varying accessibility needs.

Commitment to Safe and Accessible Transactions

We carefully vet all third-party payment processors used in the Marketplace to ensure they comply with accessibility requirements across the European Economic Area (EEA). This ensures that users can make purchases confidently, without barriers, and that all interactions in the payment process are secure and accessible.

Enhanced Accessibility Features in the Marketplace

To make the Marketplace as inclusive as possible, we have implemented a range of accessibility enhancements:

1. Screen Reader Compatibility

Our Marketplace works seamlessly with popular screen readers such as VoiceOver (iOS) and TalkBack (Android). Buttons, menus, and product information are all announced in a logical and meaningful order, allowing users with visual impairments to navigate and make purchases effectively.

2. Customizable User Interface (UI) Elements

Users can adjust colors, contrast, and element sizes to suit their visual and cognitive needs. High-contrast modes, for example, ensure that text and icons remain clear and distinguishable, supporting users with low vision or color blindness.

3. Dynamic Text Size Support

Text sizes in the Marketplace adapt to your device’s accessibility settings, letting users increase or decrease font size without breaking layout or functionality. This feature helps users with visual impairments or reading difficulties access content comfortably.

4. Alt Text for Images and Icons

All images, icons, and graphical elements include descriptive alternative text. This ensures users relying on assistive technology understand visual content. For example, a product image or navigation buttons will have alt text describing its appearance and key features.

5. Simplified Navigation and Focus Management

The Marketplace supports keyboard and assistive technology navigation. Focus indicators highlight active items, making it easier for users to move between products, menus, and checkout screens without confusion.

Please note keyboard navigation is not yet supported on iOS devices.

6. Consistent and Predictable Layouts

Standardized layouts minimize unexpected changes and provide a predictable browsing experience. This benefits users with cognitive disabilities or those using assistive devices by reducing confusion and improving usability.

7. Accessible Checkout Process

The checkout process is fully accessible, with labeled form fields, clear error messages, and screen reader compatibility. Users can complete purchases confidently and independently.

Device Settings Configuration

Please note that some accessibility features may require configuration in your device settings, depending on your operating system. Ensure that your device's accessibility settings are appropriately adjusted to fully utilize these features within the Goodnotes app.
