Use Goodnotes in ChatGPT and Claude

Goodnotes is available as an app in ChatGPT and as a connector in Claude. Use either AI service to create text documents, whiteboards, and diagrams, then import the result as a new document in your Goodnotes library.

Important before you start: This integration uses the AI model from ChatGPT or Claude and does not use your Goodnotes AI credits. It is available on all Goodnotes plans, including the Free plan. A Claude Pro, Team, or Enterprise plan may be required to use connectors.

What you can create

The Goodnotes integration lets you generate three types of content through an AI conversation:

  • Text Documents are formatted notes. Ask the AI to write study notes, meeting agendas, project plans, or other text-based content, and it will generate a Goodnotes-compatible text document.
  • Whiteboards are freeform visual canvases. Ask the AI to draw illustrations, sketches, or visual layouts. Whiteboards use a dotted-pattern template by default. You can also request dark mode by saying something like, “Draw a timeline about the solar system using dark mode.”
  • Diagrams include mindmaps, timelines, and flowcharts. Choose from three styles: Classic for colorful nodes and connectors, Gray for grayscale tones, or Line for outlines without fill colors.

Tip: Include the diagram style in your prompt. For example, “Draw a mindmap about machine learning in grayscale” or “Use line style for the diagram.”

Import your content into Goodnotes

When you are happy with a generated document, whiteboard, or diagram, select Edit in Goodnotes. This opens a link that imports the content into your Goodnotes library as a new document.

Important: Make sure you are signed in to your Goodnotes Account and the Goodnotes app is open on your device. If the app is not open, the import may not complete successfully.

Each time you import generated or revised content from a chat, Goodnotes creates a separate new document in your library.

Things to know

  • ChatGPT or Claude generates the content using its own AI model, so results may differ from content generated by Goodnotes AI.
  • You can revise generated content in the same chat before importing it.
  • The integration creates new documents only. It cannot edit or analyze documents already in your Goodnotes library.
