Goodnotes is now available as an app on ChatGPT and as a connector on Claude. You can use AI to generate notes, text documents, whiteboards, and diagrams, then import them directly into your Goodnotes library.
This integration uses the AI model from ChatGPT or Claude to generate content. It does not use Goodnotes AI credits and is available on all Goodnotes plans, including the Free plan.

What You Can Create
The Goodnotes integration lets you generate three types of content through AI conversation:
Text Documents are formatted notes. Ask the AI to write study notes, meeting agendas, project plans, or any text-based content, and it will be generated as a Goodnotes-compatible text document.
Whiteboards are freeform visual canvases. You can ask the AI to draw illustrations, sketches, or visual layouts. These are generated on a dotted-pattern template by default. You can also request dark mode by saying something like "Draw a timeline about the solar system using dark mode."
Diagrams include mindmaps, timelines, and flowcharts. You can customize their appearance with three styles:
- Classic — colorful, multi-colored nodes and connectors
- Gray — grayscale tones
- Line — outlines only, no fill colors
Tip: To change the diagram style, include it in your prompt. For example: "Draw a mindmap about machine learning in grayscale" or "Use line style for the diagram."

Import Your Content Into Goodnotes
When you're happy with a generated document, whiteboard, or diagram, tap Edit in Goodnotes. This opens a link that imports the content into your Goodnotes library as a new document.
Important: Make sure you're signed in to your Goodnotes Account and the Goodnotes app is open on your device when importing. If the app isn't open, the import may not complete successfully.
Each time you generate or iterate on content in a chat, importing it creates a separate new document in your library.
Things to Know
- The AI generates content using its own model (ChatGPT or Claude). The results might be different from what Goodnotes AI produces.
- This does not use any of your Goodnotes AI credits.
- You can iterate on generated content within the same chat. For example, ask the AI to revise a diagram or add sections to a text document before importing.
- The integration creates new documents only. You cannot edit or analyze existing Goodnotes documents through ChatGPT or Claude.
- This feature is available to all Goodnotes users regardless of subscription plan.
