What is Meeting Assistant, and how does the on-device version for HP differ from the existing feature?
Meeting Assistant is Goodnotes' built-in feature that lets you record, transcribe, and summarize meetings in real time. For more information, visit our dedicated Meeting Assistant page.
Unlike the standard version, Meeting Assistant On-Device for HP runs fully offline on your device. It does not require an internet connection and does not consume any AI credits.
Which devices are eligible, and is there an exclusivity period?
Meeting Assistant On-Device is available exclusively to users of select HP devices for six months, from July 23, 2026 until January 22, 2027.
All other Windows, Android, and Web users can continue to use Meeting Assistant with an internet connection and AI credits as usual.
What are the main benefits of using Meeting Assistant On-Device?
When you use Meeting Assistant On-Device, transcription and summarization are processed locally on your HP device. This means:
- No AI credits are consumed from your monthly allowance.
- You can record, transcribe, and summarize for unlimited hours per month.
- No internet connection is required.
Is this feature limited to the Goodnotes Pro offer?
Yes. Users of eligible HP laptops receive a free 3-month Goodnotes Pro trial, which includes access to additional features such as cross-platform sync and real-time collaboration. Meeting Assistant On-Device is available to eligible HP device users that have Pro subscription activated.
How do I enable Meeting Assistant On-Device?
Before you begin, make sure you have a Goodnotes account and are signed in. You also need to have a Notebook, Whiteboard, or Text Document open.
To enable Meeting Assistant On-Device:
- Open the sidebar panel and select Audio Outlines.
- Tap Enable Meeting Assistant On-device.
Alternatively, you can also turn on on-device summarization and on-device transcription by following these steps.
- Open the sidebar panel and select Audio Outlines.
- Tap the three-dot menu (...) and choose Recording Settings. Record Settings allow you to choose which features you would like to run directly on-device.
- To enable On-Device Summarization: Toggle off Live Summary > Tap Need Download for On-Device Summarization Model and wait for the model to finish downloading > Toggle on Use On-Device Live Summarization.
- To enable On-Device Transcription: Toggle off Use Cloud Transcription > Tap Need Download for On-Device Transcription Model and wait for the model to finish downloading > Toggle on Use On-Device Transcription.
3. Tap Done to save your changes.
Which languages are supported?
At launch, Meeting Assistant On-Device for Windows supports English only. Additional languages will be supported in future updates.
