Why Renewal Matters for Your Goodnotes Journey
Renewal ensures that your Goodnotes subscription never misses a beat. Ensure your payment details are up-to-date to prevent any issues during renewal. It keeps your access uninterrupted, so you can continue enjoying all the wonderful features. We're excited for you to continue this journey with us!
How to Check Your Subscription Status and Renewal Date
You can check your renewal date by simply tapping on the gear icon and selecting your name (Manage account), then tap on "Subscription".
To check your renewal price, the steps vary by your purchase platform:
- If you subscribed through Google Play Store: Open the Google Play Store app, tap your profile icon, select “Payments & subscriptions”, then “Subscriptions”, and choose your Goodnotes subscription to view the renewal amount and next billing date.
- If your subscription was purchased via Paddle (Microsoft Store, Samsung Galaxy Store, or Goodnotes Web): Your subscription is managed by Paddle, our payment provider. You can confirm this by checking the purchase receipt sent to your email, which shows Paddle as the seller. This receipt also includes the price of your next renewal. Alternatively, you can check your renewal price directly on the Paddle website and use the “Look Up My Purchase” feature to view your subscription details.
General pricing information is available on our pricing page.
Managing a Cancelled Subscription: Your Renewal Options
If you have decided to cancel your Goodnotes subscription, rest assured that your access to all premium features remains active until the subscription’s next scheduled renewal date.
How to Renew Your Plan - Before Expiry
When your current plan's auto-renewal is turned off, you will see a new Renew button, allowing you to easily restart your subscription:
- Go to the Goodnotes Menu (Upper right of your Library).
- Tap on Manage Account (Your name).
- Tap the Renew button.
- If you subscribed via Google Play Store or Apple App Store: Renewing will turn on auto-renewal, effectively undoing the subscription cancellation. Your subscription end date will remain unchanged. Your subscription will automatically renew when it ends, and you'll be billed when the new subscription starts.
- If you subscribed via Paddle - that is you had subscribed on Microsoft Store, Samsung Galaxy Store, or Goodnotes Web: Unfortunately, canceled subscriptions cannot be renewed. Tapping Renew will open the paywall with all available plans for you to select and purchase. Your new subscription period will start from the purchase date of the new plan.
Important: Renewing Across Different Purchase Platforms
Goodnotes subscriptions are tied to the purchase platform where the original transaction was made, such as Apple App Store, Google Play Store, or Paddle (if you subscribed on Microsoft Store, Samsung Galaxy Store, or Goodnotes Web).
You cannot renew your cancelled subscription on a different platform from your original purchase because renewals must be processed through the same store where the plan was originally purchased.
If you do not see the Renew button and wish to renew your subscription, you have two options:
- Renew on the Original Platform: Log into Goodnotes using the same platform/store where you initially purchased your subscription and complete the renewal there.
- Wait for Expiry: Wait until your current plan has completely expired. Once expired, you will then be able to purchase a brand-new plan on any platform you prefer.
Resubscribing - After Expiry
If your subscription has fully expired, the process to set up a new subscription depends on your original purchase platform:
- If you subscribed via Google Play Store: Look for an option to Resubscribe within the Google Play Store app. If your subscription is not available to resubscribe, you can set up a new subscription again via the in-app paywall.
- If you subscribed via Paddle (Microsoft Store, Samsung Galaxy Store, or Goodnotes Web): Unfortunately, canceled subscriptions cannot be reinstated directly after expiry. To resubscribe, simply set up a new subscription once your current plan expires by purchasing it again via the in-app paywall.
- If you subscribed via Apple App Store: Please follow the instructions in this article: Keep Your Subscription Rolling: Ensuring Goodnotes Renewal on Apple App Store is Enabled
Not Planning to Renew or Considering a Plan Switch?
If you choose not to renew your Goodnotes subscription, rest assured your notebooks remain safe. When your current plan ends, you'll transition back to the free plan.
If you are considering a plan switch, wait until your current plan expires, then you can purchase another option from the Paywall in the app.
Important Points to Remember
- Uninstalling the app or deleting your account won't affect your subscription status.
- If you're having trouble with renewal, ensure you're on the same platform where you originally subscribed. Check for any payment issues with your card or your Google Play account status as payment problems can prevent renewal.
