Goodnotes requires iPadOS 18.7 or later or macOS 15.7 or later to receive future app updates, including new features, security updates, and bug fixes.
If your device cannot update to a supported system version, newer hardware may be required to receive future Goodnotes updates.
The system option is named “Software Update”.
Minimum supported versions
- iPadOS: 18.7 or later
- macOS: 15.7 or later
Update iPadOS
- Open Settings.
- Select General > Software Update.
- Install iPadOS 18.7 or later if available.
Update macOS
- Open System Settings.
- Select General > Software Update.
- Install macOS 15.7 or later if available.
If you stay on an older version
- You can continue using the installed Goodnotes version.
- You will not receive future bug fixes, performance improvements, or new features.
- iCloud Sync and Automatic Backup may become less reliable over time as supporting infrastructure changes.
Previous Goodnotes version
If you purchased the previous version before Goodnotes 6 launched on August 8, 2023 and downloaded its final release, version 5.9.127, you can continue using it without future bug fixes or improvements.
You can install the latest Goodnotes app and return to the previous experience in the app. See switch to the previous Goodnotes experience.
The current iPadOS or macOS requirement applies when updating the latest Goodnotes app.
