Goodnotes for Android, Windows, and Web: General FAQs

Find answers about installing or opening Goodnotes, signing in, syncing notebooks, and creating backups on Android, Windows, and Web.

Syncing your library between Apple and non-Apple devices requires Goodnotes Cloud, which is included with Goodnotes Pro.

Feature availability can differ by platform, device, account, and plan. Keep Goodnotes updated and use the same Goodnotes account on every device.

Install or open Goodnotes

Windows: Download Goodnotes from the Microsoft Store.
Android: Download it from Google Play or the Galaxy Store.
Web: Open the Goodnotes web app in a supported browser.

Sign in to your Goodnotes account

Your Goodnotes account gives you access to your plan features and to notebooks stored in Goodnotes Cloud. Sign in with the same Goodnotes account on every device.

Sync between Android, Windows, and Web

On Android, Windows, and Web, your notebooks are stored in Goodnotes Cloud. They sync between these devices when you sign in with the same Goodnotes account and have an internet connection.

Sync with your iPad, iPhone, or Mac

Not seeing your documents on your Apple device, or your Apple-device notebooks on Android, Windows, or Web? Syncing between Apple and non-Apple devices requires Goodnotes Cloud on your Apple device, which is included with Goodnotes Pro. Goodnotes Essential, Goodnotes Special Edition, and the former Android & Windows Yearly plan don't include it.

If you have Goodnotes Pro:

On your Apple device, turn on Goodnotes Cloud in Goodnotes menu > Cloud & Backup.
Sign in with the same Goodnotes account on every device.
Keep each device online while the first sync completes.

Create a backup

A full manual library-backup function is not currently available on Android, Windows, or Web. Export important notebooks as PDFs or Goodnotes files and store copies separately. See export a notebook as PDF.

Use Dynamic Templates

Android, Windows, and Web can use notebooks created from Dynamic Templates on Apple devices. Creating custom template sizes or themes is currently Apple-only. Custom PDF and image templates can be imported through Manage Notebook Templates where supported.

Report a problem

Update Goodnotes and reproduce the issue.
Record the device, operating system, Goodnotes version, and steps.
