Select content with the Lasso Tool

What It Does

One of the most flexible and powerful tools, the Lasso Tool allows you to select content created in the app and do all sorts of things on that content.

How to Use It

Note: Some of these features are only available for handwritten content, not pictures or other forms of notes.

Select content

Select the Lasso Tool, draw a loop around the content you want to select. Alternatively, select the rectangular lasso setting from the Tool Bar if you wish to have a rectangular selection .
Note: A loop that is larger than intended might select unintended objects nearby, too. To avoid this, you can draw a loop that simply touches the intended object.

Once the content is selected, tap on the selection to bring up the Lasso Object menu, which has the following tools:

Move the content

Using your finger or pencil, drag the content to a new place.
Note: It's not currently possible to move a selection across page boundaries.

Ask Goodnotes

Tap on the Ask Goodnotes icon to ask a question or get quizzed on selected handwriting

Change the colour of handwritten content

Tap on the colour wheel icon to change the colour of selected handwriting.
Use the tabs at the bottom to use preset or custom colours.

Resize mode

For handwriting selections, tap on the resize mode icon to open the resize mode menu.
In resize mode, you can align and reflow your handwriting, as well as cut, copy and duplicate selections.

Edit mode

Tap on the edit mode icon to open Edit Mode
Double tap on any word to individually edit it as you would with text!

Cut / Copy the selection

Choose Cut or Copy. You can then long-press anywhere on the page and choose Paste to insert the clipboard content.

Delete the selection

Tap on the red delete icon to Delete any selection

Open the full menu

Tap on the menu icon to see all the Lasso menu options including Take Screenshot, Add Elements and Conversion
