How to Use Scribble to Erase

You can use your pen to erase notes just like crossing out mistakes with a pencil. Simply scribble over the words or lines you want to remove and they will disappear.

Use Scribble to Erase

  1. Write a word or sentence.
  2. If you want to erase it, scribble over the strokes using the Pen Tool.
  3. All strokes underneath the scribbled area will be erased.

For best results, follow the suggested scribble shapes shown in the “good” example image in the original article. These shapes make it more likely that the Scribble‑to‑Erase gesture is recognized.

Keep in mind:

  • Strokes outside your scribble might not be erased - for example, dots on letters like “i.”
  • You can either scribble over these extra strokes afterward or ensure they are covered by your initial scribble.

Disable Scribble to Erase

If Scribble to Erase interferes with your normal handwriting, you can turn it off at any time:

  1. Tap the Pen tool twice > Pen Settings
  2. Choose Pen Gestures and disable Scribble to Erase.
