Whiteboard

What's a Whiteboard?

A Whiteboard Document is a new document format featuring an infinite canvas, giving users greater freedom for note-taking, planning, collaborative brainstorming, mind-mapping and diagramming.

Create a Whiteboard

  1. In the Library View, choose New… > Whiteboard.
  2. Set properties of the Whiteboard: Name, Language, Pattern, Colour.
  3. Tap Create

Manage Boards

A Whiteboard document can contain multiple boards, similar to how a regular notebook contains pages.

To manage boards in the current Whiteboard document:

  1. Open the Sidebar (leftmost icon on the toolbar).
  2. Do one of the following:
    • Add a new board: Choose Add Board.
    • Switch to a board: Choose it.
    • Rearrange boards: Drag a board up or down and release.
    • Edit a board or take an action on it: Tap the down arrow next to it and choose an action.
      • Take an action on multiple boards:
              a) Choose More icon in the top-left corner of the Sidebar > Select Boards.
              b) Select the boards.

              c) Choose an action at the top, or from the More menu there.

Tip: Swipe across a board and tap the Trash icon to delete it

Change the Properties of a Board

  1. Open the board from the Sidebar.
  2. Open the More menu.
  3. Change the properties: Background Pattern and/or Background Colour.

Tip: You can open a notebook in Split View and drag pages from the Thumbnail View onto your current board.

Navigate your Whiteboard Quickly

In addition to using common gestures like zooming (2-finger pinch) and panning the canvas (1-finger swipe), you can also use the minimap to navigate your Whiteboard.

The minimap, located in the lower left corner, provides a bird's-eye view of your infinite canvas and shows all your work areas at a glance. It helps you quickly locate your content and navigate between different sections.

Ways to Use the Minimap
  • Drag within the minimap to quickly pan across different areas.
  • Double-tap the minimap to fit the content to screen.
  • Use the zoom button to adjust your view level.
  • Choose the bottom-right Minimap button (next to the zoom button) to toggle it.
  • Diagramming and Shapes

Whiteboard Document works best with the improved Shape tool that allows you to draw connections between ideas using diagrams and mind maps. See Improved Shape Tool.

    Collaboration

Whiteboard Document supports real-time collaboration, allowing multiple users to work together simultaneously on the same canvas. Team members can see each other's edits and laser pointer in real-time, making it ideal for remote discussion sessions and collaborative planning. See Improved Collaboration
