Understanding Goodnotes AI Credit

Goodnotes AI Credit is our usage-based system that allows you to access AI-powered features within the app. Think of credits as tokens that are consumed each time you use AI features like ask questions, content generation, or other intelligent assistance tools.

How AI Credits Work?

Credit Allocation - Your subscription plan determines how many AI credits you receive. These credits are automatically added to your account based on your plan tier. Learn more in this help article.

Credit Usage - Each AI interaction consumes a certain number of credits. More complex requests (like generating detailed content or processing large amounts of text) may use more credits than simple questions.

Credit Management - You can monitor your remaining credits within the app. You can always check your balance through the Goodnotes menu > Your Profile or in your AI Settings. When you're running low, you'll receive notifications to help you manage your usage.

Credit Synchronization - AI Credits are synced across all your devices through your Goodnotes account, so you can seamlessly continue your AI-powered work no matter which device you're using.

Credit Renewal - Credits are replenished on the 1st of each month

How many AI credits do I need?

AI credits work a bit differently than you might expect! Rather than 1 credit = 1 query, the amount varies based on what you're doing. Your personal usage patterns will determine how quickly you use them up. As a friendly guide: 525 credits typically powers about 3 hours of AI goodness, while 6,300 credits can fuel approximately 30 hours of creative exploration.

The specific number of credits included with each plan is detailed here in this article.

What happens when my AI credits are running low?

The app will give you a friendly heads-up when your credits are starting to dwindle! You can always check your balance through the Goodnotes menu > profile or in your AI Settings. If you find yourself running out, you have options: either subscribe to AI Pass for a generous monthly allowance, or simply wait until next month when your credits automatically refresh.

Which AI features run on my device vs. in the cloud?

Several helpful AI features run right on your device without using any credits: Math Conversion, Circle to Lasso, Spell Check, Handwriting Reflow, and Scribble to Erase. The more advanced cloud-powered features (such as Goodnotes AI for Whiteboard/Notebook, Text Document, Math, and Meetings) will count toward your monthly credit usage.
