Goodnotes for Android, Windows, and Web: general FAQs

Find answers about installing, signing in to, syncing, and backing up Goodnotes on Android, Windows, and Web.

Note: Feature availability can differ by platform, device, account, and plan. Keep Goodnotes updated and use the same Goodnotes account on every device.

How do I install or open Goodnotes?

See Download Goodnotes for Android and Windows for requirements.

Why do I need to sign in?

Your Goodnotes account provides access to eligible plan features and notebooks stored in Goodnotes Cloud. Sign in with the same account on each device.

Can I use Sign in with Apple?

Yes. Select “Sign in with Apple” on Android, Windows, or Web and use the same Goodnotes account. To see Apple-device notebooks on other platforms, the library must use Goodnotes Cloud rather than iCloud Sync.

Why are Apple-device notebooks missing?

  1. On the Apple device, confirm that the library is using Goodnotes Cloud.
  2. Confirm that every device uses the same Goodnotes account.
  3. Keep each device online while the initial sync completes.
  4. See Goodnotes Cloud on iOS for setup details.

Do Android, Windows, and Web sync with each other?

Yes. Notebooks stored in Goodnotes Cloud sync between Android, Windows, and Web when you use the same account and have an internet connection.

How can I create a backup?

A full manual library-backup function is not currently available on Android, Windows, or Web. Export important notebooks as PDFs or Goodnotes files and store copies separately. See export a notebook as PDF.

Can I use Dynamic Templates?

Android, Windows, and Web can use notebooks created from Dynamic Templates on Apple devices. Creating custom template sizes or themes is currently Apple-only. Custom PDF and image templates can be imported through Manage Notebook Templates where supported.

How do I report a problem?

  1. Update Goodnotes and reproduce the issue.
  2. Record the device, operating system, Goodnotes version, and steps.
  3. Contact Support with those details.
