Use these steps if you purchased your Goodnotes subscription through the Apple App Store. A subscription purchased through Google Play or directly through Goodnotes must be canceled through the service that manages it.
This article only applies to subscriptions managed through the listed purchase channels. The App Store action is “Cancel Subscription”.
Cancel an App Store subscription
- Open the Apple Settings app.
- Select your Apple Account name, then Subscriptions.
- Select Goodnotes.
- Select Cancel Subscription.
If there is no Cancel Subscription button or an expiration message appears in red, the subscription is already canceled.

Google Play
Follow Google’s instructions to cancel a Google Play subscription.
Subscription managed by Goodnotes
- Open Settings.
- Select Manage Account > Manage Subscription.
- Choose the option to cancel.
Goodnotes shows when access is due to end and provides an in-app reminder.
Request an App Store refund
For an App Store refund request, contact Apple Support.
What happens after cancellation?
You remain on the current plan until it expires. Your account then returns to the free plan and your documents become read-only.
When you try to edit, Goodnotes asks you to choose three documents to keep editable. After choosing them, you cannot change the selection. Other notebooks remain viewable but read-only.
