These FAQs explain how to request deletion of a Goodnotes Account or Personal Data. Personal Data means information that identifies you or can be used to identify you.
Account deletion cannot be undone, while a formal erasure request can cover specific Personal Data. The downloadable document is the “Erasure of data request form”.
Deleting your Goodnotes Account is permanent and deletes its associated Personal Data, including notebooks. It does not cancel a subscription or provide a refund.
The Right to Erasure allows you to ask an organization to erase Personal Data it holds about you. Unlike account deletion, an erasure request can cover specific Personal Data without requiring account deletion.
Can I delete my account in Goodnotes?
Yes. If you use Goodnotes on more than one platform, deleting the account on one platform deletes it across all platforms.
- Export any notebooks you want to keep.
- On an Apple device, follow the account-deletion steps for Apple devices.
- On Android, Windows, or Web, follow the account-deletion steps for Android, Windows, and Web.
What happens when I delete my account?
Deleting the account deletes the data associated with it. Export notebooks first if you want to retain a copy.
Account deletion does not cancel your subscription. Cancel your subscription before deleting the account.
How do I submit a manual deletion request?
- Download and complete the Erasure of data request form.
- Include the required supporting evidence.
- Email the completed form to support@goodnotes.com.
The support team cannot respond until the form is fully completed. In some circumstances, Goodnotes may be legally entitled to retain Personal Data covered by the request.
When does the Right to Erasure apply?
It applies only in limited circumstances, including when:
- Goodnotes no longer needs the Personal Data for its original purpose.
- Processing relies on consent and you withdraw that consent.
- You object to processing based on a legitimate interest and that reason does not override your interests.
- You object to processing for direct marketing.
- The Personal Data was processed unlawfully.
- Goodnotes must erase it to comply with a legal obligation.
- The Personal Data was processed to offer certain digital services to a child.
Why might my request be rejected?
Goodnotes may reject a request if it does not meet the applicable circumstances; if data must be retained for a legal obligation, public-interest reason, freedom of expression and information, or a legal claim; or if the request is excessive or manifestly unfounded.
How long will my request take?
After receiving a validly completed form and supporting evidence, Goodnotes will respond within one calendar month. For a complex request, it may explain that an extension of up to two additional calendar months is required.
If the request is rejected, Goodnotes will explain the decision and provide information about the right to complain to an applicable supervisory authority and seek a judicial remedy.
What identification can I provide?
Goodnotes accepts an official card or document containing your name and photograph, or other information used to prove your identity. Examples include a current passport, photocard driving licence, national identity card, birth certificate, health or medical card, or another document meeting that definition.
Goodnotes does not retain the identification and deletes it after receiving the request. If it is insufficient, Goodnotes will notify you.
Can I submit a request for someone else?
Yes. Provide evidence that you are authorized to act for that person together with their identification documents.
