Note: This article is for Goodnotes Accounts across Apple devices. For information on Goodnotes Accounts on Goodnotes for Android, Windows, and Web, please see our other help article on this.
View your account info
Simply tap the Goodnotes menu in the top-right corner of the Library view > View Account, where you can view your account details.
Important: To access your account on another device, make sure to log in using the same Goodnotes account credentials. Each Goodnotes account is linked to your email address and login provider (such as Sign in with Apple, Google, or Microsoft). You can check this information by going to Goodnotes menu > Your name > Account Settings.
Change User Name
Go to Goodnotes menu > Your name > Account Settings. To change your User Name, Choose the ">" next to your name to change it. This name will be visible to others when you collaborate or share documents.
Sign out of your account
- Go to Goodnotes menu > Your name
- Tap Sign Out and confirm.
Delete your account
To delete your account:
- Open the Goodnotes menu (top-right corner of the Library view) > your profile name > Account Settings.
- Tap Delete my account and confirm the next action. If you wish, you can choose "Download documents" to back up all your library before proceeding to account deletion.
- Once you request account deletion, your account will be scheduled for deletion 21 days later. After 21 days, your account and all its data will be permanently deleted.
- If you try to log in during that period, you can recover your account.
- If you try to log in after that period, you will be logged in as a new user.
-
If you like to delete the account immediately without scheduling, click "Want to permanently delete your account immediately?" and confirm.
This will delete the Goodnotes account, but not your local documents on iOS devices, iCloud-synced documents, or your subscription on Apple App Store. You can then sign in to Goodnotes again and any existing Apple App Store subscription will be migrated to that Goodnotes account.
What happens to your subscription when deleting Your Account
- Apple Subscriptions: Deleting your Goodnotes account on an iOS device will delete your documents on non-Apple devices, but your subscription from the Apple App Store will remain.
- Android/Windows/Web Subscriptions: Deleting your Goodnotes account on an iOS device will remove both your documents on non-Apple devices and any subscriptions purchased on these platforms. Please note that removed subscriptions cannot be restored.
Manage your subscription
Go to Goodnotes menu > View Account > Subscription. Here you can view the details of your active subscription.
Other Subscription(s)
If you scroll down, you will find the section called Other Subscription(s). This area lists any additional subscriptions on your account that are lower benefits compared to your active plan. These may include any previous Goodnotes 5 one-time purchase, any purchased Special Edition plan if you also have active Goodnotes Essential/ Goodnotes Pro, or have Essential plan shared through Family Sharing.
Transfer your Apple purchase to another Goodnotes account
To transfer your Goodnotes Special Edition to another Goodnotes account (using a different Apple, Google, or Microsoft account):
- Sign in to the Goodnotes account that shows that purchase in Goodnotes menu in top-right corner of the Library view > View Account. The Subscription field should read Special Edition.
- Continue to Account Settings > Delete my account, optionally tap "Download documents", then tap "Delete account without downloading documents" > "Want to permanently delete your account immediately?" > Confirm by following the instructions.
- Sign in to the Goodnotes account you want to move your Special Edition plan to.
- Check that the Subscription field on the View Account page reads Special Edition, indicating a successful transfer.
To transfer your Goodnotes Essential subscription to another Goodnotes account:
- Sign in to the Goodnotes account that shows that purchase in Goodnotes menu icon in top-right corner of the Library view) > View Account. The Subscription field should read Essential.
- If you have a Goodnotes library linked to this same Goodnotes account in Goodnotes for Android, Windows, and Web, it's important to export the documents there as PDF backups. This is because deleting your Goodnotes account on iOS will also delete your Goodnotes library across all platforms.
- Continue to Account Settings > Delete my account, optionally tap "Download documents", then tap "Delete account without downloading documents" > "Want to permanently delete your account immediately?" > Confirm by following the instructions.
- Sign in to the Goodnotes account you want to move your Essential subscription to.
- Check that the Subscription field on the View Account page reads Essential, indicating a successful transfer.
Renew Subscription
To ensure your subscription renewal is enabled, please check out this article.
Cancel your subscription
If you're trialling Goodnotes as a paying GoodNotes 5 user, you'll be switched to the free plan of Goodnotes when the trial ends, so you don't need to worry about canceling the trial to avoid an automatic renewal charge.
However, if you're trialling Goodnotes as a free user, the trial will become a subscription when it ends.
Should you decide to cancel your subscription, you'll need to do it at least one day before the Renewal Date shown above to avoid being charged automatically for the following year.

Troubleshooting Goodnotes Account Issues
-
"It looks like you already have a Goodnotes account" screen: If you see this screen, it essentially means that the Goodnotes Account you are trying to sign-in with doesn't match the one you originally made. When you first sign up to Goodnotes 6, the app will connect the first Goodnotes Account you made to your App Store account. If you then try to sign in with another Goodnotes Account that's not connected to your Apple ID, this error message will show. To resolve this, see Why am I getting "It looks like you already have a Goodnotes account"?
- "Instead of seeing my email address, I'm seeing a random string of letters and numbers": In this case, you likely have "Hide my Email" enabled. This is an Apple feature that essentially provides apps with a proxy email to protect your information. There's no problems with using this feature, and your app will still function as normal (although this may be confusing). If you'd prefer to not use this, see How do I replace my Hide My Email address shown on Account Info?
- "I've purchased a subscription but can not see it on my account": If you have purchased a subscription but still see "Freemium" on your account, please sign out and back in again. If you still can not see your Goodnotes Premium entitlements, please send our Support Team your App Store receipt with the Order ID of the purchase and your Diagnostics Data. To get the Diagnostics Data, open Goodnotes menu in the library view > View Account > Account Settings > Export Diagnostic Data.
