If you bought the app before (or are being shared the app via Family Sharing), redownloading it to any device should automatically give you full access. If not, and tapping "Restore Purchase" manually in the app doesn't work, please try one or more of the following:
-
Double-check your logged-in Apple ID. It must be the correct Apple ID, which is either of the following:
- The same Apple ID you used to buy the app. If your Purchase History of the current Apple ID doesn't show "GoodNotes", chances are you used another Apple ID to buy it. Try looking in your inbox for the App Store receipt and the Apple ID shown on it is the correct one.
- The Apple ID that you own and that the family organizer added to their family group when setting up Family Sharing. Also check your inbox to make sure you have accepted the invitation to the family group; not completing this process might not make your Apple ID usable for restoring the purchase.
-
Log out of App Store and Log back in again, and be sure to log in with the correct Apple ID. Since Apple allows using different Apple IDs for your iCloud account and the App Store, make sure you are logged in to the App Store, not your iCloud account:
-
- iPadOS/iOS: Open the App Store app, tap your photo, or the sign-in button at the top of the screen. Then, tap on your name to sign in with your Apple ID.
- macOS: Open the App Store app, click your photo or the sign-in button at the bottom of the left sidebar. Then, click on Account Settings to sign in with your Apple ID.
-
- (iOS / iPadOS) First, perform a Manual Backup to backup your notes. Then, Offload the app (DO NOT Delete or Remove app): go to device Settings > General > iPad/iPhone Storage > Goodnotes > Offload App. This might take a while. After that, tap "Reinstall App". Your Goodnotes library will be placed back.
-
Reinstall the app a second time:
- Back up your library.
- Delete the app.
- Sign out of App Store and then sign in to App Store again.
- Restart your device. (This step makes sure the App Store app can behave normally.)
- Reinstall the app.
- Redownload the app to another device.
- Update the payment information in your (or the family organizer's) Apple account. For example, if the card that bought the app has expired, the purchase is unlikely restorable.
- Contact Apple Support. Your Apple ID account needs checking for any wrong configuration. Please stress to Apple that you should be able to use your Apple ID to restore a purchase you bought (or are shared with) and that the people at GoodNotes simply can't help verify any proof of purchase.
