Google Drive login window doesn't stay open for Auto Backup sign-in

Problem

When trying to sign in to Google Drive for Auto Backup, you might be experiencing an issue where the sign-in window disappears before you are able to input your Google Drive account details. Logging in to other accounts, such as OneDrive and Dropbox may still be completely functional; however, Google Drive will not allow sign-in at all.

Solution

While we're investigating this known issue, please try the following steps and see if you are then able to log in to Google Drive for Auto Backup:

  • Restart the device.
  • (iOS / iPadOS) First, perform a Manual Backup to backup your notes. Then, Offload the app  (DO NOT Delete or Remove app):  go to device Settings > General > iPad/iPhone Storage > Goodnotes > Offload App. This might take a while. After that, tap "Reinstall App". Your Goodnotes library will be placed back.
  • Reinstall the Google Drive app, which hopefully resets its integration with the system and other apps.
  • Go to device Settings > Safari > and turn off "Block All Cookies" and/or choose Clear History & Website Data.

If none of that helps, you can use another cloud storage like OneDrive or Dropbox, while also regularly backing up your data.
