Use this guide to check whether your device and operating system can install and run the current version of Goodnotes.
Important: Some Goodnotes AI and audio features have additional chip, operating-system, language, or subscription requirements. Meeting the general requirements below does not guarantee access to every feature.
Apple device requirements
- iPhone: iOS 18.7 or later.
- iPad: iPadOS 18.7 or later.
- Mac: macOS 15.7 or later.
- Apple Vision Pro: visionOS 1.2 or later.

Check your operating-system version
- Find the installed version:
- iPhone or iPad: Open Settings > General > About, then check iOS Version or iPadOS Version.
- Mac: Open the Apple menu > About This Mac, then check macOS.
- Apple Vision Pro: Open Settings > General > About, then check visionOS Version.
- Compare the installed version with the minimum requirement above.
- If needed, update the operating system before installing or updating Goodnotes.

If Goodnotes displays “Requires a newer operating system” when you try to install or update it, compare your installed version with the requirements above. A device that cannot update to the required version cannot install the current Goodnotes release.
