Am I entitled to a discount for Goodnotes if I bought GoodNotes 5?

If you paid for GoodNotes 5 before the Goodnotes 6 launch (August 9, 2023), you can get a discount to upgrade to Goodnotes, which will be available until further notice. The amount of discount you can receive will depend on when you bought GoodNotes 5 and which purchase type you elect. Please note that these discounts are seen in Goodnotes on iPadOS/iOS only.

For Essential plan (formerly All Platforms Yearly)

You will first get a non-renewing 7-day trial of the subscription. After the trial, you'll get a discount off your first year of the subscription:

  • 100% discount if you bought GoodNotes 5 from July 1 to Aug 8, 2023
  • 50% discount if you bought GoodNotes 5 from Jan 1 to June 30, 2023 (i.e. first half of year 2023)
  • 25% discount if you bought GoodNotes 5 anytime before 2023

For Special Edition plan (formerly Apple One-time Payment)

  • 33.3% discount if you bought GoodNotes 5 from July 1 to Aug 8, 2023
  • 26.4% discount if you bought GoodNotes 5 from Jan 1 to June 30, 2023
  • 19.4% discount if you bought GoodNotes 5 anytime before 2023

The app will automatically try to determine your eligibility, and apply the respective discount to the prices you see on the Subscription Plans page.

 

If you don't see your qualified discount

 

For Essential plan

Make sure you're logged in to the App Store app with the Apple Account that bought GoodNotes 5. If the issue remains, tap Restore Purchases on the Paywall. This prompts the app to look for the "GoodNotes 5" purchase in your Purchase History.

If the issue continues, please verify whether you have subscribed to the Pro plan. If you have, this indicates that you have already utilized the introductory offer, and therefore, the discount for the Essential plan is no longer applicable.

 

For Special Edition plan

Make sure you're logged in to the App Store app with the Apple Account that bought GoodNotes 5. If the issue remains, tap Restore Purchases on the Paywall. This prompts the app to look for the "GoodNotes 5" purchase in your Purchase History.

 

 

If the issue continues, please contact us with the App Store receipt of your GoodNotes 5 purchase and send us the Diagnostic Data.

Send us the Diagnostic Data:

  • If you're already logged in, open Goodnotes menu (top-right corner of the library view) > View Account > Account Settings > Export Diagnostic Data. If still on the login page, look for the "?" icon in the top-right corner > Download diagnostics file to device.
