Share Goodnotes through Apple Family Sharing

You can share a Special Edition (one-time purchase) or an annual subscription bought through Apple using Apple Family Sharing.

People in your family group can then use that shared access when they sign in to Goodnotes on iOS, macOS, Android, Windows, and Web.

Subscriptions purchased directly through Goodnotes on Android, Windows, and Web cannot be shared through Family Sharing. Family Sharing applies only to purchases and subscriptions managed through Apple.

Share Your Goodnotes One-Time Purchase or Subscription

  1. If you haven’t already, set up Family Sharing and invite people to your family group.
  2. Turn on sharing:
    • One-time purchase: go to Settings > Apple ID > Family > Purchase Sharing > Continue, then follow the onscreen steps.
    • Subscription: go to Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions, then turn on Share with Family.
  3. Ask everyone in the group to join the family group.
  4. Have them open Goodnotes and create a Goodnotes account with Sign in with Apple, Google, or Microsoft. They should keep using the same sign-in provider so Goodnotes can recognize the shared subscription.

If they sign in with a different provider, they may see: It looks like your Goodnotes account is already associated to a different sign in method. See Why am I getting this sign-in error?.

Open Goodnotes from the family group

  1. Open the App Store.
  2. Tap the profile icon in the top-right corner.
  3. Check Purchased or Subscriptions.

If they still don't have access

  • If Goodnotes isn’t visible, make sure it isn’t hidden in App Store purchase history.
  • Leaving or disbanding the family group immediately removes paid Goodnotes access for everyone who was using the shared purchase.
  • Family Sharing is an Apple feature. If access still doesn't appear, try leaving and rejoining the family group, or follow Apple’s suggestions.
