My purchased plan isn't showing up correctly (e.g., I see Essential instead of Special Edition)

If you've purchased a specific Goodnotes plan (like the Special Edition Plan, formerly Apple One-time Payment) but are seeing a different one (like the Essential Plan, formerly All Platforms Yearly) in your Account Info, this is typically due to how App Store purchases are shared within a family group.

This happens because of Purchase Sharing in your Apple Family group. If another member of your family has a different plan, such as the Goodnotes Essential plan, your device may show that shared plan as active plan. It is because the app will still give you the benefits of the higher plan. However, your own purchase may not appear as the active plan, which can be confusing.

To see the your other purchased plan

There are two main ways:

  1. Check Other Subscription(s) section. Go to Goodnotes menu > Your name to view Account Info > Subscription. If you scroll down, you will find the section called Other Subscription(s). This area lists any additional subscriptions on your account. Here you will see your other purchased plan. If you do not see Other Subscription(s) section, try updating the app.
  2. Temporarily leave the Family Sharing group. Leaving the family group will remove the shared plan from your account's entitlements, allowing your personal purchase to be displayed as active plan.

If the issue persists, please send over:

  • The Order ID of any in-app purchase made from within the app, e.g. MXD12WMX34. The purchase could be for unlocking the full app (GoodNotes 5 or Goodnotes 6), or any Marketplace items (free or paid). If you can't find any such receipts in your email inbox, check your Purchase History.
  • A screenshot of Goodnotes menu > View Account > Account Settings
  • The Diagnostic Data that you export via Export Diagnostic Data from the same Account Settings screen.
