Downgrade to GoodNotes 5

Prerequisite

You must have unlocked the full version of GoodNotes 5. Free GoodNotes 5 users upgrading to Goodnotes, or new users of the new version, won't be able to downgrade.

Downgrade from Goodnotes

  1. In Goodnotes, open Goodnotes menu > View Account (Your Name) > GoodNotes 5.
  2. Disable "Run Goodnotes in Version 6." The app will exit.
  3. Relaunch the app.

Why don't I see the Downgrade option when I did buy GoodNotes 5?

It's likely that you're already in GoodNotes 5, and thus can't downgrade, as expected. Since both GoodNotes 5 and Goodnotes are in the same app, do any one of these quick checks to make sure you're in Goodnotes before attempting to downgrade:

  • In the library view, Goodnotes shows a left side bar when you turn your device to landscape, and the name of the app shown there is "Goodnotes", with a lowercase "n":

  • Open the Goodnotes menu top-right corner of the Library view > About. The "App" field will tell you which app experience you're in, GoodNotes 5 or Goodnotes. If "Goodnotes 6", you can downgrade to GoodNotes 5 (as long as you bought it before).
  • From your device Home screen, Goodnotes has this new icon:

If you believe you're in Goodnotes 6 experience and entitled to seeing Downgrade but don't, try backing up your library and reinstalling the app.

If the issue persists, please contact us with the following:

  • The Order ID of any in-app purchase made from within the app, e.g. MXD12WMX34. The purchase could be for unlocking the full app (GoodNotes 5 or Goodnotes 6), or any Marketplace items (free or paid). If you can't find any such receipts in your email inbox, check your Purchase History.
  • A screenshot of Goodnotes menu > View Account > Account Settings
  • The Diagnostic Data that you export via Export Diagnostic Data from the same Account Settings screen.
