If handwriting recognition or search uses the wrong language, set the language for the affected document. On Apple devices, this default only applies to new documents.
The current default setting is “Default Language for New Documents”.
Set the default for new documents
- Open the Goodnotes menu.
- Select Settings > Document Language > Default Language for New Documents.
- Select your preferred language.
Change the language for an existing document
- Open the affected document.
- Select the document title at the top.
- Select Recognition Language.
- Select the language used in the handwriting.
If search still returns the wrong results
If you still see results in the wrong language, re-index the document.
- Change Recognition Language to another language, then change it back.
- Alternatively, add a handwriting stroke and undo it to trigger re-indexing.
- Allow time for Goodnotes to index the document, then search again.
See Handwriting Recognition and Search Languages in Goodnotes for supported languages. If search remains unavailable, see I can’t search my notes.
