Goodnotes allows linking text to pages within the same document/other Goodnotes documents (an internal link) or a web page (an external link) so that you can quickly refer to helpful resources when you need them.
Create a link
- While editing in text box or in Full-page Typing, select the text you want to link by tapping twice to highlight it and optionally adjusting the selection.
- Tap Link in the pop-up options.
- Customize the link, depending on your needs:
- To create an internal link to a page of a document, set these properties:
- Document: Keep This document, or tap it to select another.

Page: Tap to select a page of the document selected in the previous step.
- To create an external link to a web page, set these properties:
- Link To: Tap and choose Website.
- Link: Tap to edit the URL.
- To create an internal link to a page of a document, set these properties:
- Tap outside the popover to save your entry. The linked text will then be underlined with dashes.
Note: If you are typing a URL directly, e.g goodnotes.com, www.goodnotes.com, http://goodnotes.com, the app will turn it into a tappable link.
Open a link
- Tap the linked text.
- Choose Open Link or Go to Page.
Copy an external link
- Tap the linked text.
- Choose Copy Link in the pop-up. The link will then be copied to your clipboard ready for pasting anywhere and in any app.
Note: To paste this link onto the page in Goodnotes, long press on the page and choose Paste.
Edit a link
- Tap the linked text.
- Choose Link Settings, and edit the properties.
Remove a link
- Tap the linked text.
- Choose Link Settings > Remove Link.
Tips & Tricks
- You can insert emojis and create links out of them!
- You can insert a link that has the color of the page background, which makes it invisible. If you add something on top, for example an image, you can still use the link by long-pressing it.
