Use Lock Objects to keep images, Sticky Notes, shapes, and Textboxes from moving accidentally. You can continue annotating over a locked object.
Handwriting, Elements, arrows, and Connectors cannot currently be locked. You also cannot lock multiple selected objects at once.

Lock an object
- Select the object.
- Open the More menu in the object bar.
- Select “Lock Image”, Lock Textbox, Lock Shape, or Lock Sticky Note, depending on the object.
The object stays in place while locked, but its other editing options remain available. The Delete button is replaced by a Lock icon.
Unlock an object
- Select the locked object.
- Select Unlock in the object bar.
The Lock icon is replaced by the Delete button.
Use locked objects in shared documents
Collaborators can see that an object is locked and can choose to unlock it. On older Goodnotes versions, Lock Objects is unavailable and the object is not locked for that collaborator.
All collaborators must use Goodnotes version 7.0.10 or later for objects to remain locked for everyone.
Lock an entire document
Lock Objects keeps individual page objects in place. To restrict access to a document, see Lock your notebooks with Password Protection.
What you can do with locked objects
- Prevent accidental movement.
- Annotate over a locked object.
- Arrange text, images, and drawings without shifting locked objects.
- Require collaborators to unlock an object before moving or deleting it.
