When you delete a document, folder, or page in Goodnotes, it moves to the Trash Bin. Use this article to recover deleted items or move them to a different location.
Important: The Trash Bin is not emptied automatically. Items remain there until you recover, move, or permanently delete them. Permanently deleted items cannot be recovered from the Trash Bin.
Open the Trash Bin
- Open Goodnotes and go to Library view.
- Select the Goodnotes menu in the top-right corner.
- Select Trash Bin.
The Trash Bin shows documents, folders, and pages that are still available to recover.
Recover deleted documents, folders, or pages
Recovering a document or folder returns it to its previous location in your library. Recovering a page returns it to the notebook it was deleted from.
- In the Trash Bin, select Select in the top-right corner.
- Select the documents, folders, or pages you want to recover.
- Select Recover.
Move items from the Trash Bin
If you do not want an item to return to its previous location, you can move it instead.
- In the Trash Bin, select Select in the top-right corner.
- Select the items you want to move.
- Select Move.
- Choose the destination where you want the items to go.
If you cannot find an item in the Trash Bin
The Trash Bin only contains items deleted inside Goodnotes that have not been permanently removed.
- If the item was permanently deleted from the Trash Bin, it cannot be recovered there.
- If you deleted and reinstalled the Goodnotes app, see I deleted Goodnotes and reinstalled it, and some or all of my notebooks are lost or inaccessible (greyed-out).
- For missing notes on Android, Windows, or Web, see [Android, Windows, and Web] I have accidentally deleted or lost my notes, can they be recovered?.
