Goodnotes can continue recording while you view another document. On Apple, Windows, and Web, recording can also continue when you switch to another app.
Important: On Android, recording stops when you switch to a different app. Only notes made on the page where the recording started are linked to Note Replay.
Start and stop recording
- Open the document that should contain the recording.
- Open the Overflow menu and select “Record & Summarize”.
- Confirm that the recording control or microphone indicator appears.
- When finished, select Stop Recording.

- Open another document from an existing tab.
- Check the recording indicator.

- Windows and Web: Recording continues in the background.
- Android: Recording stops when you switch apps.
If recording stops unexpectedly

- Keep Goodnotes open on Android.
- Start a new recording if the previous clip stopped.
