Import PDFs With Email to Goodnotes

Email to Goodnotes imports PDF attachments into your Goodnotes library when they are sent to your unique Goodnotes email address.

Only attached PDF files can be imported this way. The feature is named “Email to Goodnotes”.

Email to Goodnotes requires a subscription and supports attached PDFs up to 25 MB. Direct PDF links and other file formats are not imported. See the Goodnotes FAQ.

Get your Goodnotes email address

  1. From Library View, open the Goodnotes menu.
  2. Select Settings > Email to Goodnotes.
  3. Review and accept the Terms and Privacy Policy.
  4. Enable Email to Goodnotes.

Your unique email address appears after activation. Share it only with people you trust.

If you cannot enable the feature, see Troubleshoot Email to Goodnotes address creation.

Send a PDF to Goodnotes

  1. Create an email addressed to your unique Goodnotes email address.
  2. Attach the PDF.
  3. Send the email.
  4. Keep Goodnotes open in the foreground while it checks for the import.

Goodnotes also checks for imports when you open Settings > Email to Goodnotes. Preparing an attachment normally takes one or two minutes.

Import limits

  • Only attached PDFs are supported.
  • Files larger than 25 MB cannot be imported this way.
  • Goodnotes does not follow links to PDFs in the email.
  • If an email contains PDFs and other unsupported attachments, the PDFs are imported and the sender receives an email listing unsupported files.
  • Images can be treated as part of an email signature, so they might be skipped without an error email.

Disable the email address

  1. Open Settings > Email to Goodnotes.
  2. Disable the feature.

The address is disabled immediately and cannot be reused. Enabling the feature again generates a new address.
