I imported a PDF to the app and saw frames around the text in it.

Some architectural drawing PDFs can display frames or boxes around text after you import them into Goodnotes, even when those frames are not visible in another PDF viewer.

This can happen with PDFs created in AutoCAD. The frames can be PDF comments that Goodnotes cannot render correctly. Re-exporting the file creates a PDF without these frames.

Re-export the PDF with Preview on Mac

  1. Open the original PDF in Preview.
  2. Choose File > Export....
  3. Select PDF as the format and export the file.
  4. Import the exported PDF into Goodnotes.

Create a new PDF with Chrome

  1. Open the original PDF in Chrome.
  2. Choose Print.
  3. In the Destination field, select Save as PDF.
  4. Choose Save, then import the resulting PDF into Goodnotes.
