Troubleshoot missing Email to Goodnotes imports

Important: Email to Goodnotes imports PDF attachments only. Images and other file formats are not imported. New PDFs appear in the root of your Goodnotes library and may take a few minutes to arrive.

Check the PDF and refresh the import

  1. Confirm that the email includes a PDF attachment.
  2. Wait a few minutes, especially for a large PDF.
  3. Close Goodnotes completely and reopen it.
  4. Open the Goodnotes menu, select Settings > Email to Goodnotes, and wait while Goodnotes checks for documents.
  5. Check the root of your library again.

If the PDF still does not appear

  1. Send the PDF again, or test with a smaller PDF.
  2. Send it from another email app, such as Gmail or Outlook.
  3. Turn Email to Goodnotes off and on to create a new Goodnotes email address, then send the PDF to the new address.
  4. Try another network. For example, change from mobile data to Wi-Fi or use another Wi-Fi network.

Collect information for Support

If the issue continues, contact Technical Support and attach Diagnostic Data:

  1. If you can sign in, open the Goodnotes menu and select View Account > Account Settings > Export Diagnostic Data.
  2. If you are on the sign-in page, select the ? in the upper-right corner, then select “Download diagnostics file to device”.
  3. Tell Support whether the TLS test page opens in Safari without an error.
